There are 7 common signs and symptoms of neck pain.

  1. Stiff Neck
  2. Reduced Range of Motion
  3. Sharp Pain
  4. General Soreness
  5. Radicular Pain (radiation of pain along the nerve from the neck to the hand)
  6. Headache
  7. Numbness of hands

The presence of one or more of the mentioned signs and symptoms are indication that you should get your spine checked by a chiropractor. As chiropractor, we use gentle adjustment and techniques to address the condition directly at the source of the pain and not just the symptoms. As the neck is a delicate structure, an experience chiropractor is recommended, not your average masseuse or barber. Here are some of the neck conditions that our chiropractors are specialized in

Whiplash injury is also a common condition we treat. During an accident, the neck is whipped forward, backwards or sideways in a very quick fashion. This causes the soft tissue of the neck to be stretched and sprained. This process causes massive stress and trauma to the delicate structure of the neck. Going to a chiropractor within 24 hours of the accident has shown to have the best prognosis.

Torticollis which is a condition where the neck is asymmetry and bend to one side. The head will look tilted to one side of the body. It can be caused by wrong sleeping position, blunt force trauma, or acquired congenitally.

Spondylosis which is age related wear and tear of the structures of the neck. This causes the neck to lose its stability. Pain and general soreness normally accompany this condition.

Degenerative Disc Disease is also an age related wear and tear condition that causes the disc between the spine to pinch on the nerve. The nerve from the neck usually goes down to the hands. This causes numbness and tingling sensation along the nerve down to the hands.

Acute Slipped Disc is a traumatic injury of the neck that is cause by blunt force trauma or accident. Instead of degenerative wear and tear over time, a massive force can also cause the discs to pinch on the nerve down to the hands.

Trauma is most common in contact sports like rugby, wrestling, football, hockey and much more. The sudden trauma will definitely cause the neck to sprain and strain. Accidents and injury also causes the neck to goes out of alignment and causes pain, numbness, soreness among other symptoms.

General Posture. You’ll be surprised that the most causes of neck symptoms in my office is due to poor posture. Over time, poor posture causes repetitive stress injury inside the joints itself and making the neck vulnerable for injury. All these conditions respond well to chiropractic care.
